ESTES PARK – The annual Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival is again expected to draw tens of thousands of people to this mountain town for a celebration of culture and heritage.

Polite rebels

Sitting in line on colourful pillows in a little coffee shop in Kemang, South Jakarta, the boys of The Trees and The Wild could pass for nice and quiet kids. Just like their music: folk guitar, bass, a muffled voice and lyrics that dwell on the classic themes of love and family.

Heading to a new parlor

Jessica Boren leaves Sunday for Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates where New York University has opened a campus. She was one of 188 students accepted out of the more than 9,000 who applied from all over the world. She grins and says she is probably the only student who was raised in a tattoo parlor.
